STUDY VISIT – NATURE MONUMENT BOJČINSKA ŠUMA

 On Saturday, October 24, 2020, students of the Faculty of Applied Ecology Futura were on a study visit to Forest of Bojcin, a protected natural asset that has the status of a natural monument. The study visit aimed at the implementation of practical teaching activities within the subject Basics of Biology in the first year of study, Protection of Biodiversity in the second year, Protection and improvement of forest and hunting resources, Preservation and improvement of urban ecosystems and Environmental Management in the third year and Ecosystem Technologies in the fourth year of study.

Accompanied by professors Dr. Milena Milojević and Dr. Radomir Mandić and assistants Goran Knezević, Slobodan Stefanović and Aleksandra Knežević, the students were welcomed by the host and guardian of the Natural Monument “Forest of Bojčin” Jovan Milivojević in the ethno restaurant Bojčinska koleba after a word of welcome, he introduced them to the history, key values ​​of the forest of Bojčin and ways of valorization of natural resources in this area. During the walk through the forest, Dr. Radomir Mandić spoke to the students about rare and endangered species, while Dr. Milena Milojević explained to them the silvopastoral system of growing mangulica that they had the opportunity to see live in this protected natural asset. Precipitation from the previous period caused a mass appearance of fungi in the forest, and students had the opportunity to get acquainted with a large number of edible and poisonous species of fungi in the field. The study visit continued with a tour of the ecosystem processor which is under construction, in which the wastewater treatment from the slaughterhouse will be performed.

At the end of the study visit, the host prepared a lunch at which the students tasted traditional mangulica specialties, and we would like to take this opportunity to thank him for his cooperation.
