The 9th Student Eco Camp “Let’s save the Danube” was held on the Great War Island in Belgrade in the period from 14-22.8.2016.

During eight days, students, participants of the camp got acquainted with various aspects of the environment and the impact of water pollution through lectures, practical work and fun. They attended lectures by eminent lecturers, and then worked in teams on a case study of the protected natural asset of the Great War Island. On the last day of the camp, the teams presented their works to a commission consisting of representatives of the organizing committee of the camp, and the best team received awards.

The participants of the camp visited and got acquainted with all segments of the Great War Island, the Botanical Garden “Jevremovac”, the drinking water treatment plant “Makiš” and the wastewater treatment plant in the Coca-Cola Hellenic complex.

This year’s camp program was jointly organized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection – Republic Water Directorate, Coca-Cola System, GIZ German Cooperation Organization, Faculty of Applied Ecology Futura, Faculty of Organizational Sciences, JKP “Zelenilo Belgrade” in cooperation with the City of Belgrade, Institute of Chemistry, Technology and Metallurgy, University of Belgrade, Institute of Water Management “Jaroslav Cerni” and WWF – World Wide Fund for Nature.
